Corporate Citizenship > Birdies for NICU Babies
Nationwide Children's Hospital
Halliday Lumber was the Platinum Donor for the event
The first annual outing raised $16,000.00
Two families of strangers were placed in similar situations that would bring them closer then they had ever imagined. Both couples, Greg and Christy Wall and Don and Allison Jantonio were shocked when their daughters were born 10 weeks early at the Ohio State University Medical Center. Maggi Grace Wall was born weighing 3 pounds, 4 ounces, while Annabelle Faith Jantonio weighed only 1 pound and 14 ounces. Annabelle was cared for at the OSU Medical Center NICU, while Maggi received her care from the Nationwide Children's Hospital NICU. While the babies were cared for at different NICU's, both families credit the lives of their daughters to the units themselves and the excellent doctors, nurses and staff at each NICU.
"Our daughters received excellent care and would not be here today if it weren't for the doctors, nurses and staff who took care of them, the prayers and support of family and friends, and the grace of God. It is for this that we felt the need to do something to not only give back to those who took care of our girls, but to pay it forward by helping the babies and families who will face this life changing challenge." said Christy Wall, Maggi's mother.
The first annual golf tournament was held in honor of both the girls as well as all babies who are born prematurely; all proceeds benefited Nationwide Children's Hospital in order to continue to support the NICU that saves premature babies lives everyday. The tournament included golf, dinner, and a live auction.
